ล่าสุดได้จัดโครงการ “Google Coding Teacher Leadership 2019” อย่างเป็นทางการที่โรงเรียนสัตหีบวิทยาคม จ. ชลบุรี โดยเป็นหลักสูตรอบรมทักษะที่เปิดโอกาสให้ครูทั่วประเทศไทยเรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับการพัฒนาทักษะการคิดเชิงคำนวณของนักเรียนผ่าน CS Unplugged หรือวิทยาการคอมพิวเตอร์แบบอันปลั๊กโดยไม่ต้องพึ่งพาคอมพิวเตอร์

การคิดเชิงคำนวณช่วยจัดระเบียบความคิด ทำให้สามารถวิเคราะห์และประเมินการแก้ปัญหาได้อย่างเป็นขั้นตอน ซึ่งสามารถนำไปใช้แก้ป้ญหาในชีวิตจริงได้ CS Unplugged ทำให้ครูสามารถถ่ายทอดทักษะการคิดเชิงคำนวณให้กับนักเรียนในระดับชั้นประถมและมัธยมศึกษาด้วยวิธีง่ายๆ เช่น การเล่นเกม การทายปริศนา ฯลฯ ซึ่งวิธีนี้จะทำให้สามารถสอนแนวคิดพื้นฐานในการเขียนโค้ดให้แก่นักเรียนตั้งแต่ชั้นอนุบาลศึกษาปีที่ 3 

Google ประเทศไทยได้นำร่องโครงการ “Google Coding Teacher Leadership”  มาแล้วตั้งแต่เดือนธันวาคม 2561 โดยมีครูจากทั่วประเทศกว่า 60 คนเข้ารับการอบรม ณ สำนักงาน Google ประเทศไทย ซึ่งได้รับการตอบรับเป็นอย่างดี สำหรับการฝึกอบรมที่โรงเรียนสัตหีบวิทยาคมมีครูเข้าร่วม 140 คน ทั้งนี้ Google มีเป้าหมายที่จะจัดอบรมให้แก่ครูทั่วประเทศอีก 4 จังหวัดในประเทศไทย เพื่อมอบองค์ความรู้ให้แก่ครูจำนวน 500 คน ภายในสิ้นปี 2562 นี้

Google helps teachers across Thailand improve students’ computational thinking skills through CS Unplugged

Google Thailand realizes the importance of education and digital skills, which is part of the company’s commitment to promoting equal access to digital opportunities for all Thais, particularly the youth. The company is working on various initiatives related to digital skills such as digital literacy and citizenship for community leaders, Google for Education for high school teachers, media literacy with journalists, and Google Ignite at Academy Bangkok for digital marketers.  

More recently, Google Thailand officially kicked off the “Google Coding Teacher Leadership 2019” program at Sattahip Wittayakom School, Chonburi, aiming to help teachers across the country improve their students’ computational thinking skills through CS Unplugged or Computer Science Unplugged, a collection of activities designed to aid the teaching and learning of computer science without using computers.

Computational thinking helps organize ideas, analyze, and evaluate problem-solving processes to better achieve results, and it can be applied to real-world problems. CS Unplugged enables teachers to train computational thinking to primary and secondary school students through simple offline means like games and puzzles. With this method, basic concepts of coding can be taught to students as early as Kindergarten 3.

Google Thailand piloted the “Google Coding Teacher Leadership” program in December last year at Google Thailand office with 60 teachers from around the country and has received great feedback from the teaching community. Apart from the training at Sattahip Wittayakom School attended by 140 teachers, Google will conduct the training in four additional cities, aiming to reach out to up to 500 teachers in Thailand by the end of 2019.
